A grant is not a discount code and it is rarely free cash at the start. The useful question is: which scheme supports this exact project, which costs qualify, and can the business carry the rest until a claim is approved?
Check the live portal before signing or paying. Enterprise Singapore now states that EDG, MRA and PSG will cease on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, companies should apply under the EDGE Grant for eligible business grant support.[1] Existing SFEC support expires on 30 November 2026; employers should check their remaining balance and claim timing before starting work.[2]
Choose the scheme by the job
PSG: adopt a listed, pre-approved productivity solution. SFEC: use an existing notified employer credit on supported transformation or training. MRA: enter a new overseas market. EEG: install qualifying energy-efficient equipment.
The same business may fit one route today and another next year
Pre-approved IT solutions, equipment or specified consultancy for an existing process.
Offsets part of the company's remaining cost on supported enterprise or workforce programmes.
Market promotion, business development or market setup for a qualifying new market.
Pre-approved or advanced equipment that reduces energy use in eligible settings.
| Scheme | Best starting question | Published support | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSG | Is the solution or equipment pre-approved for this use? | Up to 50% of eligible costs, up to S$30,000 for local SMEs | No payment or deposit before application |
| SFEC | Was the employer already awarded the credit? | One-off S$10,000; up to 90% of out-of-pocket cost on supported programmes | Current credit expires 30 Nov 2026 |
| MRA | Is this a qualifying new overseas market? | Up to 70% of eligible costs; cap S$100,000 per new market | One activity and one market per application |
| EEG | Is the equipment and sector currently eligible? | Base tier up to S$30,000; current rate up to 70% for SMEs | Published future expansion is not the same as current eligibility |
Understand what “up to 50%” really means
The percentage normally applies to approved qualifying costs, not the entire invoice and not every cost around the project. Delivery, optional add-ons, routine operating costs, taxes or work outside the approved scope may not qualify. The final amount is governed by the offer and accepted claim.
In this illustration, the business still funds S$12,000 of the S$20,000 invoice, and may need to pay the supplier before reimbursement. The numbers explain the arithmetic only; they are not a grant estimate.
PSG requires the approved solution to be deployed for at least 30 days and paid in full before the claim documents are submitted.[1] EDG, discussed in the business transformation guide, is also described by Enterprise Singapore as reimbursement-based. Cash-flow planning matters even when a project is approved.
PSG: adopt a pre-approved solution
The Productivity Solutions Grant supports Singapore companies adopting IT solutions and equipment that improve productivity or automate existing processes. Enterprise Singapore currently states support of up to 50% of eligible costs for local SMEs, with up to S$30,000 available.[1]
The published company tests include registration and operation in Singapore, at least 30% local equity, and group annual sales not above S$100 million or group employment not above 200. The purchased, leased or subscribed solution must be used in Singapore. The official page excludes payment or deposits before application submission.
What a careful PSG sequence looks like
- Define the process problem and the result to improve.
- Find an eligible solution through GoBusiness Gov Assist.
- Obtain the required quotation in the company's registered name.
- Prepare financial, location and business-impact documents.
- Apply directly through the Business Grants Portal using Corppass.
- Wait for the Letter of Offer and accept its conditions before proceeding.
- Deploy, use and pay for the approved solution as required.
- Submit the claim with invoices, payment evidence, usage evidence and required photographs.
Enterprise Singapore says the applicant company must apply and manage the grant directly; third parties cannot do so on its behalf. A complete application usually takes about six weeks to process.[1]
Start by checking whether the exact solution and scope are listed. A custom marketing website, unrelated design work or vendor extras should not be assumed eligible because they are digital.
SFEC: check whether the employer already has credit
The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit is different from an open grant application. Enterprise Singapore says all employers eligible for the current credit have already been notified; the Corppass administrator can check the S$10,000 credit in the Business Grants Portal or SkillsFuture for Business.[2]
For the current credit, SFEC supports up to 90% of the company's out-of-pocket expenses on qualifying programmes. Up to S$7,000 can be used for enterprise transformation, while the full credit can be used for workforce transformation. The company must still meet the rules of the underlying programme.
Final claims for current supported programmes or completed training must be submitted by 30 November 2026. Approved SFEC amounts are disbursed separately, generally quarterly, through the employer's IRAS-registered GIRO or PayNow Corporate account.[2]
Ask the Corppass administrator to check the balance, supported programme and claim deadline. Do not start a new project solely because a balance appears: the base programme must still approve and support the cost.
MRA: enter a new overseas market
The Market Readiness Assistance Grant supports overseas market promotion, business development and market setup. For applications from 1 April 2026, Enterprise Singapore publishes support of up to 70% of eligible costs for local SMEs, capped at S$100,000 per company per new market: S$20,000 for promotion, S$50,000 for business development and S$30,000 for setup.[3]
The scheme requires a Singapore-registered and operating business with at least 30% local equity, and group turnover not above S$100 million or group employment not above 200. The target market must be new under the programme's sales test: the company must not have exceeded S$100,000 in annual sales there in each of the preceding three years.
One application covers one activity in one overseas market, and the project generally cannot exceed 12 months. Enterprise Singapore says there are no retrospective applications and advises applying no earlier than six months before the project starts.[3]
A broad ambition such as “grow in Southeast Asia” is not yet an MRA project. Name the market, activity, customer evidence, supplier scope, timeline and measurable outcome.
EEG: reduce energy use with eligible equipment
The Energy Efficiency Grant supports companies adopting energy-efficient equipment. Under the current base tier, pre-approved equipment can receive up to S$30,000; the published rate is up to 70% for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs until 31 March 2027.[4]
The current Enterprise Singapore page lists construction, data-centre users, food services, manufacturing, maritime and retail as eligible sectors, subject to scheme conditions. An advanced tier can support more complex equipment with demonstrated energy savings, with a combined cap of S$350,000 across tiers.
Budget 2026 announced that the base tier will expand to all sectors and be extended to 31 March 2028, but the official EEG page says details will be provided later in 2026.[4] Treat that as an announced change, not proof that a currently ineligible sector can apply today.
Apply without accidentally losing eligibility
- Define the projectProblem, intended outcome, timeline and responsible owner.
- Check the live schemeCurrent eligibility, solution, market, sector and deadline.
- Map eligible costsSeparate supported scope from add-ons, tax and operating cost.
- Protect the start dateDo not sign, pay or begin when the scheme prohibits it.
- Plan the cashKnow what must be funded before reimbursement.
- Keep evidenceQuotes, approvals, invoices, payment, deployment and outcomes.
The Business Grants Portal is the Singapore Government portal for businesses to apply for grants and track applications.[6] The portal result and Letter of Offer, not a vendor's sales claim or this article, determine the approved scope.
